We have children playing in our Mini Soccer School for U5s and U6s and league teams from U7s to U18s. We offer football for children with all levels of ability - there is a team for everyone.

Our teams compete in the Cambs Mini Soccer League, Cambs Colts League, Royston Crow League and Eastern Junior Alliance League (EJA). With over 500 children, our club is one of the largest in Essex and still growing. We were awarded the Essex FA Charter Standard Club of the Year in 2018 and continue to strive to achieve the highest standards.

" Football has to be fun for kids or it doesn't make sense. "

— Johann Cruyff

" We don't need to be screamers on the sideline. I think we can create an environment where the kid is in charge of his own game. "

— Jurgen Klinsmann

We support our volunteer coaches and assistant coaches by funding their attendance at FA training courses. We have one of the highest number of qualified coaches at any youth football club in Essex.

Our coaches and assistant coaches are all CRB checked and have a valid Safeguarding Children and Emergency Aid certificate. We take these qualifications and checks seriously. This is why we have maintained our FA Charter Standard for the last 5 years and were awarded Essex FA Charter Standard Club of the year in 2018.

All teams have at least one FA Level 1 qualified coach and many have two or more. We’ve also have 18 Level 2 qualified coaches at the club and these numbers are increasing all the time. One of our coaches has achieved UEFA B Level 3!

With teams competing at all levels in the Cambs, Royston Crow and EJA leagues we can offer our players football at a development level that suits them best.

Our sister club Saffron Walden PSG offers league football for girls in Saffron Walden and the surrounding areas. Together we are raising the funds to support #myCommunity3G.

Our senior club partner, Saffron Walden Town FC, was formed in 1872, and are the oldest club in Essex still in existence, and the 19th oldest in the world. The “Bloods” as they are known, because of the red in the club colours were founder members of the Essex County Football Association in 1882. We aspire to provide the next generation of SWTFC players!

" Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. "

— Pele

In partnership with Saffron Walden County High School, we are building a new state-of-the-art 3G pitch in 2021. Work is well under way - by the end of the summer this first-class football facility will be available for use by local children.

All support appreciated - please do give your backing to the #youngbloods!

It’s very possible that many of these talented young players will wear the first team shirt within the next few years - why not come and see the future, today!

This season, the #pathway through our Saffron Walden Community YSC Teams through to the Saffron Walden Town FC Senior teams has been reinforced, perhaps more than any other season.

Behind the scenes, we've been working hard to build our Colts teams in the Eastern Junior Alliance League and they feed into our Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League U18 midweek team.

Over the last seven months, U23 Manager Steve Ince has played no less than 13 of our U18s in his Essex Senior League Reserves League team, and on Friday night away at Hashtag United FC, there were seven on the Teamsheet again.

There was a debut for 17 year old Henry Clare, and he came off the bench to score (see video), assisted by another Sub, 16 year old Dylan Davies.

The Manager of the U18 side, Mike Riccio, said:

"The belief that Steve Ince and Brian Peggs have shown in our Youth players is fantastic, and they've been rewarded with some great performance from the youngsters.

We get far more enjoyment out of seeing this player progression and development than anything else - it makes all the time and effort the coaches put in worthwhile"

Well done to all the #YoungBloods this season and thank you to all the management and coaching teams at every age level. 🔴⚫️⚽️

What a day! Today it was the turn of our U8 and U9 #youngbloods to be mascots and flag bearers for Saffron Walden Town FC before their Essex Senior League match against Halstead Town Football Club.

The boys turned out in great numbers and clearly brought good luck ☘️ with them as the #bloods ran out 3-0 winners to climb to 7th in the standings 👏👏👏

Next up will be our U10 and U11 teams on 1 April and then finally ALL our players are invited to represent the #CommunityClub on 22 April for the last home game of the season.

Thanks 🙏 to Jamie Sharp and all the SWTFC Board for welcoming our young players today.🔴⚫️⚽️

The result wasn’t the outcome we wanted as the #Bloods 💉 🩸 lost out in a penalty shoot out, but it was a joy to witness a solid debut appearance this evening for our U18 player Evan Goodfellow for the Saffron Walden Town FC first 11 👏👏👏

Thanks to all the coaches who have been involved in providing the #pathway for Evan to progress to this level - his rise from U18s through to being top scorer for our U23s this season has been meteoric 🚀

But to be absolutely clear - this was no fluke; Evan has earned and fully deserved his opportunity.

Well done Evan - he looked right at home; there’s plenty more to come. 🔴⚫️⚽️

So proud to have helped him along the way. It’s all a learning curve and I’m sure he and the rest of the “original #youngbloods “ will make their mark in the first team.

WALKING FOOTBALL - A TRUE CHAMPION! 🏆

One of our regular #WalkingFootball players, Steve Elve, was a member of a team that won the Championship ‘Cure Parkinson’s Cup’ on Sunday 5th March, at the home of English football, St George’s Park in Staffordshire.

The competition was run by Sports Parkinson’s and was open to any person or family member of a person who has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Steve was diagnosed with this cognitive degenerative disease in 2011. He played in a team created for the tournament alongside team-mates from all over England.

Steve said,

“The competition was great fun and I met some wonderful people who are also playing Walking Football while trying to manage every-day life following the diagnosis of this condition.

I was lucky to play in the team that I did and we battled unbeaten through seven 10-minute matches to secure the trophy. It is well known that exercise helps alleviate the symptoms and can slow down the progression of the effects of Parkinson’s, and, whilst I was exhausted afterward, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

I am very grateful to Saffron Walden Community FC for setting up the Sunday and Monday Walking Football sessions at Saffron Walden County High School as this has benefitted me in so many ways: I feel fitter and more mobile than I was before joining the club and the guys that I play alongside are great fun.

Anyone, of any age and with any ability is welcome and should come along to experience it themselves”

Steve added,

“I am looking forward to defending our championship title next year and hope to go on and win a second trophy.”
