We have children playing in our Mini Soccer School for U5s and U6s and league teams from U7s to U18s. We offer football for children with all levels of ability - there is a team for everyone.

Our teams compete in the Cambs Mini Soccer League, Cambs Colts League, Royston Crow League and Eastern Junior Alliance League (EJA). With over 500 children, our club is one of the largest in Essex and still growing. We were awarded the Essex FA Charter Standard Club of the Year in 2018 and continue to strive to achieve the highest standards.

" Football has to be fun for kids or it doesn't make sense. "

— Johann Cruyff

" We don't need to be screamers on the sideline. I think we can create an environment where the kid is in charge of his own game. "

— Jurgen Klinsmann

We support our volunteer coaches and assistant coaches by funding their attendance at FA training courses. We have one of the highest number of qualified coaches at any youth football club in Essex.

Our coaches and assistant coaches are all CRB checked and have a valid Safeguarding Children and Emergency Aid certificate. We take these qualifications and checks seriously. This is why we have maintained our FA Charter Standard for the last 5 years and were awarded Essex FA Charter Standard Club of the year in 2018.

All teams have at least one FA Level 1 qualified coach and many have two or more. We’ve also have 18 Level 2 qualified coaches at the club and these numbers are increasing all the time. One of our coaches has achieved UEFA B Level 3!

With teams competing at all levels in the Cambs, Royston Crow and EJA leagues we can offer our players football at a development level that suits them best.

Our sister club Saffron Walden PSG offers league football for girls in Saffron Walden and the surrounding areas. Together we are raising the funds to support #myCommunity3G.

Our senior club partner, Saffron Walden Town FC, was formed in 1872, and are the oldest club in Essex still in existence, and the 19th oldest in the world. The “Bloods” as they are known, because of the red in the club colours were founder members of the Essex County Football Association in 1882. We aspire to provide the next generation of SWTFC players!

" Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. "

— Pele

In partnership with Saffron Walden County High School, we are building a new state-of-the-art 3G pitch in 2021. Work is well under way - by the end of the summer this first-class football facility will be available for use by local children.

SAFFRON WALDEN TOWN FC U18...4 THETFORD TOWN FC U18...1

Our Saffron Walden Town FC U18 team eased to a comfortable win on Tuesday night in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties Youth League. 👏👏

In freezing conditions, the match was played at Saffron Walden County High School on our 3G artificial grass pitch since Catons Lane was frozen solid. 🥶

It was the team's first outing since early December, but they came straight out of the blocks and took control of the game and were rewarded with a very early goal thanks to a confident side foot finish from striker Josh Head in the third minute. ⚽️

Just two minutes later, Walden 'keeper Andy Pinner's long free kick picked out the run of forward Evan Goodfellow, who produced a sublime piece of control to chest the ball down on the run, followed by a lob of matching quality to make it 2-0 to the home side. ⚽️

The lead was then extended in the 28th minute when Goodfellow beat the visitors' keeper to a diagonal ball and drove towards the goal. He drilled a cross towards the run of midfielder Henry Clare and the retreating Thetford defender was unable to avoid turning the ball into his own net as he tried to cut it out, making it 3-0 to the #youngbloods at the interval. ⚽️

In the second half, the young visitors worked tirelessly to get back into the game, and they were rewarded with a deserved goal when their striker somehow forced his way through a forest of Walden players and slotted low under Pinney to reduce the arrears to 3-1 on 50 minutes.

The next goal was going to be critical and thankfully it fell the way of the #bloods after chances came and went at both ends. When the ball reached Head in the 67th minute, there didn't seem much on, but spotting that the Thetford shot stopper was not well positioned, he instantly hammered an unstoppable rocket into the top corner past the surprised 'keeper to make it 4-1 to Walden and put the result beyond any doubt. ⚽️

The win moves the Saffron Walden youngsters up to 5th in a very competitive league at the halfway point. There are games coming up virtually every week now with a backlog due to the weather conditions. The last five games are all at home; please do come along to support this talented team. ⚽️🔴⚫️⚽️

Saffron Walden CFC and Saffron Walden Town FC would like to thank Thetford Town Football Club U18s and the match officials for helping us to observe an impeccable minutes silence on Tuesday night, as we paid our respects to Alan Noakes at Saffron Walden County High School.

A regular attendee at SWTFC matches and beloved grandfather of our players Tom and Josh Head, Alan will be terribly missed by the wider #bloods family.

Highlights of the match will be posted soon, but you can be sure that Josh did his Grandad proud with two classy goals 👏👏👏

Rest peacefully Alan, from all of us 💔 🔴⚫️⚽️

Is it for women too or is it men only?

Think I’d like to give this a go, do I just turn up?

Is it ok just to turn up for the walking football group
