About us
We have children playing in our Mini Soccer School for U5s and U6s and league teams from U7s to U18s. We offer football for children with all levels of ability - there is a team for everyone.
Our teams compete in the Cambs Mini Soccer League, Cambs Colts League, Royston Crow League and Eastern Junior Alliance League (EJA). With over 500 children, our club is one of the largest in Essex and still growing. We were awarded the Essex FA Charter Standard Club of the Year in 2018 and continue to strive to achieve the highest standards. We are currently fundraising for a top quality 3G pitch – this will be coming to Saffron Walden County High School in 2020.

Formed from a merger of Spartak 78 YSC and Saffron Walden Town Youth FC in 2018, the new Community club has grown and grown. We are a registered Charity (number 801764) and run by volunteers. All subscriptions go towards providing quality football for our members and supporting the qualification of our coaches.
" Football has to be fun for kids or it doesn't make sense. "
— Johann Cruyff
" We don't need to be screamers on the sideline. I think we can create an environment where the kid is in charge of his own game. "
— Jurgen Klinsmann
Our coaches
We support our volunteer coaches and assistant coaches by funding their attendance at FA training courses. We have one of the highest number of qualified coaches at any youth football club in Essex.
Our coaches and assistant coaches are all CRB checked and have a valid Safeguarding Children and Emergency Aid certificate. We take these qualifications and checks seriously. This is why we have maintained our FA Charter Standard for the last 5 years and were awarded Essex FA Charter Standard Club of the year in 2018.
All teams have at least one FA Level 1 qualified coach and many have two or more. We’ve also have 18 Level 2 qualified coaches at the club and these numbers are increasing all the time. One of our coaches has achieved UEFA B Level 3!

With teams competing at all levels in the Cambs, Royston Crow and EJA leagues we can offer our players football at a development level that suits them best.
Our partners
Our sister club Saffron Walden PSG offers league football for girls in Saffron Walden and the surrounding areas. Together we are raising the funds to support #myCommunity3G.
Our senior club partner, Saffron Walden Town FC, was formed in 1872, and are the oldest club in Essex still in existence, and the 19th oldest in the world. The “Bloods” as they are known, because of the red in the club colours were founder members of the Essex County Football Association in 1882. We aspire to provide the next generation of SWTFC players!
" Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. "
— Pele
In partnership with Saffron Walden County High School, we are building a new state-of-the-art 3G pitch in 2020. With Football Foundation support secured and planning permission agreed, our goal is to raise £150K. So far £115K is safely banked. Please help us to achieve our goal of realising first-class football facilities for our local children.

Today’s team of the day is our U16 Red, managed by Tony Saward. They play in the Cambridge and District Colts League “Bluebird” Division and home games this season have been at Ashdon. 🔴⚫️⚽️
There’s a great spirit in the group and many of the boys have been with the Club since they started in football at five or six years old. 💪
With GCSEs looming, the players are looking forward to playing a few more games this season when grassroots football returns in early April. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Today’s “Team of the day” is our outstanding U18 Town - they’re affiliated with SWCFC and play their in the Thurlow Nunn Youth Football League. 🔴⚫️⚽️
Manager Mike Riccio and his coaches have been delighted with this year’s group. The football they’ve played has been a joy to watch - there’s very little chance of a boring 0-0 draw!
As a result, they’ve set new records for U18 attendances at Saffron Walden Town Football Club 2019 and have thrilled the crowds. Both senior SWTFC and SWCFC are very proud of them all 👏👏👏
This year’s generous kit sponsor is Saffron Building Society - thank you so much 🙏👍
The players are:
Back Row, L-R; Brian Escobar, Tom Basten, Harris Ashton, Ciaran Mone, Matt Orris, Dylan Bennett, Will Hammill, Jadon Keogh Gibbs.
Front Row, L-R; Lewis Farmer, Ben Roberts, Will Norris, Tom Lister, Luca Mannino, Mathias Davies, Henry Huxter, Alfie Bowen, Ryan Porter.
Wherever they end up, we hope that all the Year 13 boys in this group keep playing football at the best level they possibly can - aim high, Gentlemen 💪⚽️

Today’s “team of the day” is our fabulous #Soccability group - pictured here in pre-Covid times when some of the children were lucky enough to be matchday mascots for Saffron Walden Town Football Club 2019 💪
The group returned to training today (Disability sports outdoors is a permitted activity) after a few weeks off - we meet at Herbert’s Farm Playing Fields every Saturday and new players are welcome. 🔴⚫️⚽️
This is for children of any ability or disability level up to the age of 16. We currently have around 15 players - if you have a child who might be interested in having a try, please do get in touch.
This group is sponsored by Croucher Needham - thank you guys! 👏👏👏
When our new #MyCommunity3G pitch is completed, we’ll move the sessions onto that every week. We also hope to be able to offer an adult Soccability session too.
