We are a community club for boys and girls and soccability players in Saffron Walden and the surrounding areas. We are an England Football Accredited club.

For boys, we have our Mini Soccer School for Reception and Year 1 lads and support league teams from U7s to U18s playing in the Cambs Mini Soccer League, Cambs Colts League, Royston Crow League and Eastern Junior Alliance League (EJA).

For girls we have the WildCats for Reception and Year 1 and Year 2 girls, and support league teams from  U8 to U18 playing in the Cambs Women and Girls League.

We also have a Soccability provision for players with any disability or impairment.

There's a team for everyone!

" Football has to be fun for kids or it doesn't make sense. "

— Johann Cruyff

" We don't need to be screamers on the sideline. I think we can create an environment where the kid is in charge of his own game. "

— Jurgen Klinsmann

We support our volunteer coaches and assistant coaches by funding their attendance at FA training courses. We have one of the highest number of qualified coaches at any youth football club in Essex.

Our coaches and assistant coaches are all DBS checked and have a valid Safeguarding Children and Emergency Aid certificate. We take these qualifications and checks seriously. This is why we have maintained our FA Charter Standard for the last 5 years and were awarded Essex FA Charter Standard Club of the year in 2018.

All teams have at least one FA Level 1 qualified coach and many have two or more. We’ve also have 18 Level 2 qualified coaches at the club and these numbers are increasing all the time. 5 coaches have reached Level 3.

Our senior club partner Saffron Walden Town FC, was formed in 1872 and are the oldest club in Essex still in existence and the 19th oldest in the world. Known as the “Bloods” because of the red in the club colours, Saffron Walden Town FC were founder members of the Essex County Football Association in 1882. We aspire to provide the next generation of SWTFC players!

This summer we formed an exciting new partnership with our local professional club Cambridge United FC.Read more about the partnership here

🏆 SWCFC U15 White v Biggleswade Utd U15
📅 Sunday, January 29, 2024
⏰ 10:30
🏟️ Saffron Walden County High School

The following is an excellent Parent match report (thank you!) following our U15 White team’s fantastic triumph in their Cup Quarter Final at the weekend!

This was a game that showcased the great things about U15 football, with both teams providing the spectators with impressive football from the first minute to the last. The commitment from both teams to get the ball down and play “pass and move” football was a joy to watch. The pace of the game, the physicality and the individual skills on display were excellent, from both teams.

The Whites started the match positively and spent much of the first half in the Biggleswade half. The press from the home side was excellent, with the boys working hard for each other when out of possession, forcing errors from Biggleswade.

When in possession, the Whites played with calm determination and speed; our pass and move football was excellent at times and caused the visiting team to chase shadows for long periods.

Despite dominating possession and consistently excellent play across the front-line, the Whites could not convert their chances, putting the ball narrowly wide on at least four occasions and hitting the woodwork twice in the first half.

Biggleswade went close a couple of times in the first half but were largely contained by a strong and well-drilled midfield and a back four and ‘keeper who were outstanding throughout the game.

It ended 0-0 at half time with Saffron Walden the much better team.

Biggleswade changed their set-up in the second half and the Whites did well to adjust quickly, continuing to dominate the game, spending the majority of the time in the Biggleswade half and looking the more likely team to score.

Saffron Walden pressure finally paid off, forcing a Biggleswade defender to handle in the penalty area which was rightly given as a penalty. The penalty was saved but several Whites players reacted quicker to the rebound, the ball bobbling around the six-yard box before Jools got a shot away to score. 1-0 Saffron Walden ⚽️.

Saffron Walden pressed for a second and within minutes it came. Some good link-up play through the middle allowed Seb to find space to get a shot away. The shot was well saved, but fell to Thomas just inside the box, who calmly volleyed past the ‘keeper. 2-0 Saffron Walden⚽️.

Biggleswade responded brilliantly, carrying the game to the Whites, who lost their shape for ten minutes or so. A goal from the visitors was looking more and more likely as the pressure on the Saffron Walden defence was building. And sure enough after some excellent play from Biggleswade, a good finish from their striker pulled a goal back. 2-1 Saffron Walden⚽️.

Saffron Walden looked flustered after a nervy spell and the well-deserved goal but managed to regain control and push forward once more. The final five minutes saw Biggleswade pour forwards looking for an equaliser to take the game to penalties. The Whites had regained their composure and didn’t look like conceding a second.

Cheers from players and spectators alike rang out at the final whistle. A thoroughly well-deserved win for the Whites and onto the Semi-Finals. Well done to the entire team. Every single one of the boys played well and each one made a significant contribution to the result.

Well done #YoungBloods and congratulations- best of luck in the forthcoming semi-final🔴⚫️⚽️!

Today was the last Saturday of football in 2023 - and what a year it’s been; it feels like things are finally back to “normal” after the disruption of the Covid stop-start seasons.

All our U7 teams played in-house matches today at Herbert's Farm Playing Fields with a Christmas theme - as evidenced by the fabulous festive jumpers on display here! 🎅

Well done to all our boys and Saffron Walden Community Girls FC players for their efforts this year; we’re looking forward to restarting in January, but until then - enjoy your break! 🔴⚫️⚽️
