We have children playing in our Mini Soccer School for U5s and U6s and league teams from U7s to U18s. We offer football for children with all levels of ability - there is a team for everyone.

Our teams compete in the Cambs Mini Soccer League, Cambs Colts League, Royston Crow League and Eastern Junior Alliance League (EJA). With over 500 children, our club is one of the largest in Essex and still growing. We were awarded the Essex FA Charter Standard Club of the Year in 2018 and continue to strive to achieve the highest standards. We are currently fundraising for a top quality 3G pitch – this will be coming to Saffron Walden County High School in 2020.

" Football has to be fun for kids or it doesn't make sense. "

— Johann Cruyff

" We don't need to be screamers on the sideline. I think we can create an environment where the kid is in charge of his own game. "

— Jurgen Klinsmann

We support our volunteer coaches and assistant coaches by funding their attendance at FA training courses. We have one of the highest number of qualified coaches at any youth football club in Essex.

Our coaches and assistant coaches are all CRB checked and have a valid Safeguarding Children and Emergency Aid certificate. We take these qualifications and checks seriously. This is why we have maintained our FA Charter Standard for the last 5 years and were awarded Essex FA Charter Standard Club of the year in 2018.

All teams have at least one FA Level 1 qualified coach and many have two or more. We’ve also have 18 Level 2 qualified coaches at the club and these numbers are increasing all the time. One of our coaches has achieved UEFA B Level 3!

With teams competing at all levels in the Cambs, Royston Crow and EJA leagues we can offer our players football at a development level that suits them best.

Our sister club Saffron Walden PSG offers league football for girls in Saffron Walden and the surrounding areas. Together we are raising the funds to support #myCommunity3G.

Our senior club partner, Saffron Walden Town FC, was formed in 1872, and are the oldest club in Essex still in existence, and the 19th oldest in the world. The “Bloods” as they are known, because of the red in the club colours were founder members of the Essex County Football Association in 1882. We aspire to provide the next generation of SWTFC players!

" Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. "

— Pele

In partnership with Saffron Walden County High School, we are building a new state-of-the-art 3G pitch in 2020. With Football Foundation support secured and planning permission agreed, our goal is to raise £150K. So far £115K is safely banked. Please help us to achieve our goal of realising first-class football facilities for our local children.

£115K of £150K target raised so far

Well done to our U16 Red who made their debuts today on the hallowed surface of the Meadow at Catons Lane, home of Saffron Walden Town Football Club 2019! ⚽️💪

The boys played out an action packed 1-1 draw with Willingham Wolves FC U16 and both teams thoroughly enjoyed the experience 👏👏

Big thanks to SWTFC and Stuart Vant for making this possible - we’re all very grateful 👍🔴⚫️⚽️

#MyCommunity3G Week 3 Progress Report!

This is a 360 degree view from the centre spot of our new 3G Artificial Grass Pitch at Saffron Walden County High School! ⚽️⚽️

It’s been another week of hard work and great progress by TigerTurf UK Ltd and McArdle Sport-Tec Ltd - if these guys were building Crossrail, it would’ve been finished years ago. 💪

The spoil has all been removed, and the position of the pitch is clearly visible. The “cut and fill” work is done so the Bulldozer has now moved on 🚜. Half of the drainage network has been installed and the remainder will go in next week.

This has all been achieved in three weeks! There’s bound to be some hiccups yet but it’s been a truly remarkable feat of engineering over the Easter holidays.

More next week!

We’re constantly investing in improvements to all our pitches and equipment. Yesterday it was Herbert’s Farm’s turn for Vertidraining 🚜

This helps to break up compaction of the root zone and promotes better drainage and grass growth. And an added bonus is is that leaves lovely stripes as part of the process!

Our #MiniSoccerSchool will be having regular midweek “games nights” to help make up for the missed football over the latest lockdown - the first was last night at Herbert’s Farm 💪⚽️⚽️

However, we hadn’t planned for a blizzard 🌨 🥶 in the middle of the session! The boys were fantastic though, and they all stuck at it brilliantly! 👏👏

Hopefully we’ll have some more favourable conditions next week! 🔴⚫️⚽️
