We have children playing in our Mini Soccer School for U5s and U6s and league teams from U7s to U18s. We offer football for children with all levels of ability - there is a team for everyone.

Our teams compete in the Cambs Mini Soccer League, Cambs Colts League, Royston Crow League and Eastern Junior Alliance League (EJA). With over 500 children, our club is one of the largest in Essex and still growing. We were awarded the Essex FA Charter Standard Club of the Year in 2018 and continue to strive to achieve the highest standards. We are currently fundraising for a top quality 3G pitch – this will be coming to Saffron Walden County High School in 2020.

" Football has to be fun for kids or it doesn't make sense. "

— Johann Cruyff

" We don't need to be screamers on the sideline. I think we can create an environment where the kid is in charge of his own game. "

— Jurgen Klinsmann

We support our volunteer coaches and assistant coaches by funding their attendance at FA training courses. We have one of the highest number of qualified coaches at any youth football club in Essex.

Our coaches and assistant coaches are all CRB checked and have a valid Safeguarding Children and Emergency Aid certificate. We take these qualifications and checks seriously. This is why we have maintained our FA Charter Standard for the last 5 years and were awarded Essex FA Charter Standard Club of the year in 2018.

All teams have at least one FA Level 1 qualified coach and many have two or more. We’ve also have 18 Level 2 qualified coaches at the club and these numbers are increasing all the time. One of our coaches has achieved UEFA B Level 3!

With teams competing at all levels in the Cambs, Royston Crow and EJA leagues we can offer our players football at a development level that suits them best.

Our sister club Saffron Walden PSG offers league football for girls in Saffron Walden and the surrounding areas. Together we are raising the funds to support #myCommunity3G.

Our senior club partner, Saffron Walden Town FC, was formed in 1872, and are the oldest club in Essex still in existence, and the 19th oldest in the world. The “Bloods” as they are known, because of the red in the club colours were founder members of the Essex County Football Association in 1882. We aspire to provide the next generation of SWTFC players!

" Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. "

— Pele

In partnership with Saffron Walden County High School, we are building a new state-of-the-art 3G pitch in 2020. With Football Foundation support secured and planning permission agreed, our goal is to raise £150K. So far £115K is safely banked. Please help us to achieve our goal of realising first-class football facilities for our local children.

£115K of £150K target raised so far

LIME AVENUE UPDATE - BREAKING NEWS!

We're thrilled to be able to reveal that the two new Football pitches at #LimeAvenue in Saffron Walden will be handed over to Saffron Walden Town Council this Summer and will be available for us to use for the new season in September. 🍾 🍾

The Town Clerk and Operations Manager have worked tirelessly on our behalf to get us to this point and we are very grateful to all at SWTC for their efforts. A Press Statement was released today which said:

"In a further step towards the transfer of football pitches and at Lime Avenue to the Town Council, Persimmon Homes have committed to installing the temporary changing facilities on 22nd June 2021.

The Town Council is delighted with the recent progress on the transfer of this land and once again takes the opportunity to thank all of those involved in this process, especially Persimmon Homes and Saffron Walden Community Football Club."

Persimmon will be providing four temporary changing rooms with toilets and showers to serve the two pitches.

For our part, we're committed to working with the Town Council to bring the pitches up to the necessary standard (more work for our new Tractor! 🚜) We will also buy all the equipment needed to hold football matches - including the goals, flags, line marker and so on. ⚽️⚽️

It still needs a big investment and lots of effort to complete, but the first step was getting the pitches handed over and all the legal issues boxed off. We understand that those issues are all now concluded and we can look forward to using the two new pitches built by Persimmon Homes.💪🔴⚫️⚽️

3G AGP Construction - Progress Report - Week 7

The pitch is really starting to take shape now; the perimeter kerbing will be completed in the next week and much of the stone base layer is now in place and rolled. 🚜

The biggest change this week has been the progress made on the retaining walls alongside the spectator area, as you can see from the pictures. 💪

Overall, contractors TigerTurf UK Ltd and McArdle Sport-Tec Ltd remain “on programme” for completion in August, ready for the new football season and Saffron Walden County High School’s new academic year. 🔴⚫️⚽️

As Bill Shankly might have said, “take a walk around our tractor, ladies and gentlemen - it’s a colossus!”

This week we’ve taken delivery of a new John Deere utility tractor and pitch management equipment from Ben Burgess - we think it looks great!

We intend to get started straight away on using this on our various sites in #SaffronWalden. We’re confident that we’ll see real improvements in the pitch playing quality and appearance pretty quickly. 🔴⚫️⚽️

Many thanks to Football Foundation for the grant of nearly £25k towards the cost of this equipment 🚜

How wonderful after all those years going up there and spiking with a fork by hand and cutting the grass with my mower. Oh what memories

Please tell me it has a roller 🙏

3G AGP Construction - Progress report - Week 6

We didn't issue our usual weekly progress update for last week as a result of the Social Media boycott, so here it is! This is how the new pitch at Saffron Walden County High School looked at the end of the week.💪

The contractors TigerTurf UK Ltd and McArdle Sport-Tec Ltd continue to make solid progress. The kerbs around the pitch edge are going in and around half of the pitch area is now protected with the membrane and several loads of aggregate.🚜🚜

There's a lot more stone to come this week and next, but the shape of the pitch is now very clear - and it looks huge!🔴⚫️⚽️
